Your Rocky Mountain Campus in Littleton is continuing to pursue Gateway’s mission of shaping leaders who expand God’s Kingdom around the world.
I am writing this article with bittersweet emotions. My retirement from the Rocky Mountain Campus (RMC) and Gateway Seminary is officially set for July 31, 2026.
Great memories and milestones are on my mind: coming home to Colorado in 2001; having Dr. Allan Karr, Nehemiah Church Planting professor, based out of the RMC; hiring Dr. Earl Waggoner, Associate Professor of Church History and Theology; receiving tens of thousands of dollars for scholarships from individuals, churches and the Nicy Murphy Colorado State Missions offering.
Having several regular/monthly individuals, churches and associations give to support the RMC; having an endowment fund designed to supplement operational funds started by Conley and Carolyn Smith with $250,000 now standing at $950,000; partnering with the CO Baptist Convention, who has provided financial support and also classroom, library and office space for almost 30 years at no cost; achieving full-degree status to offer the MDIV from the Association of Theological Schools;
Serving as interim pastor for Ken Caryl BC Littleton (twice), Emmanuel BC Sterling, North Metro Church Thornton, Community of Grace church Centennial, First Southern BC Canon City and Holiday BC Salt Lake City; extended pulpit supply for Mt. Crest BC Leadville and First BC Burlington and preached at well-over 50 churches in CO; seeing 4 graduates of the RMC elected to serve as President and 9 graduates serve as 1st or 2nd Vice-president of the Colorado Baptist Convention; having numerous students, graduates and adjunct professors serve on the Executive Board of CO Baptists; having graduates of the RMC now serving as adjunct professors at the RMC; having over 180 masters level graduates since 2002; establishing teaching sites at Riverside BC, Cornerstone BC, and Cross Fellowship church, as well as in Salt Lake City, UT, Casper, WY and Ft. Collins, CO; having 166 CLD/ADVANCE graduates serving churches in WY;
Having over 400 students and spouses come to my home for soup nights and BBQ dinners since 2002; having almost 250 individuals attend the 25th RMC anniversary celebration dinner in October 2022; and working alongside great Administrative Assistants over the years.
I could go on and on. I cannot help but think of God’s faithfulness during these last 25 years. God has been so gracious to everyone impacted by the RMC, but I especially count Him faithful to my family and me. I am continually amazed at the things only He can do and accomplish.
God is truly good!
Your Rocky Mountain Campus continues to influence and equip a generation of leaders who are expanding God’s Kingdom throughout the west and around the world.
Here is a current look at the RMC: student enrollment for the spring semester of 2026 was 62 students, up from 54 in spring 2025. Class hours taken by RMC students were 264 in spring ’26 compared to 250 in spring ’25. Financial aid allocated to our students in the spring semester totals just under $18,207. One hundred percent of these funds are from local avenues, including the Nicy Murphy State Mission Offering. The teaching sites in Casper, WY, Salt Lake City, UT, Ft. Collins, and Black Forest, CO complement the classes offered at the RMC. All of these sites, in conjunction with the RMC, are providing contextualized leadership development throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
The RMC partners with CO Baptists to shape leaders who expand God’s Kingdom around CO, the West, and the world. If you know of anyone who is sensing God’s call to ministry and serve His church or is looking to gain more training in order to be more effective in their ministry setting, please let the new director, Dr. Josh Hutchens, know ([email protected]).
Pray that God would continue to thrust out laborers into the harvest, because the fields are white (Mt 9:37-38)
God is great and greatly to be praised!
Steve Veteto serves as the Director of the Gateway Seminary, Rocky Mountain Campus.
