Call to Prayer 2012

Lead your church to join SBC Call to Prayer in January

What would it mean if Southern Baptist Churches united in focused prayer for spiritual awakening during a specific month? That's the goal of the SBC Call to Prayer, planned for January 2012. We are encouraging SBC pastors to choose a Sunday in January to lead their church through a special time of prayer.

Need Help With Prayer?

Prayer prepares the ground for the seed of the Gospel and maintains dependence on God. “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24

In an effort to fulfill our vision and live our core values, the Prayer and Evangelism Team seeks to lead Colorado Baptists to maintain an absolute dependency on God through prayer, provide intercessory prayer support, training, and resources so that we will penetrate lostness under the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the certainty of God’s will, leading and presence, and the humility of needing Him in all we do.

The Team offers conferencing, consulting, and workshops on developing a stronger prayer ministry within your ministry setting. Some common workshops include:

  • Becoming a House of Prayer
  • Developing a Neighborhood Lighthouse of Prayer
  • Developing Your Personal Prayer Life
  • Binding Prayer and Evangelism Together in Ministry
  • Starting a Church Prayer Ministry
  • Learning to Pray from the Master
  • Practical Ideas for Strengthening Corporate Prayer
  • Developing a Passion and Compassion for the Lost
  • Prayer Walking Resources: Prayer Walking
  • Other Prayer Programs: Shield a Badge with Prayer

January is SBC CALL TO PRAYER MONTH

Jan 1 2013
Jan 31 2013

Join other Southern Baptists in answering the call to prayer.  Make 2013 a year of intentional prayer for the spread of the gospel among your friends, community, across the nation, and around the world.  Make this a year of intentional prayer for the lost; expect God to hear your prayer as you engage the lost with the Good News.

On the Rooftop or Mountaintop, Gain a Fresh Vision

By Ron Clement

Centennial- “Imagine thousands of Christians across North America gathering to look over their local communities and gain a fresh vision of God's heart for the lost.”

This statement is found on LifeWay Christian Resources (www.lifeway.com/rooftop), quickens my heart as I think about the possibility of Colorado Baptists being gripped by a fresh vision from God for the lost.  In actuality, it is an invitation to you and your church.  Can you see such possibilities for our land as you take your “perch”, whether rooftop, mountaintop, or treetop.

2011 Week of Prayer for International Missions

Paul wrote, "All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it" (1 Cor. 12:27). Jesus has commissioned us to be His Heart, His Hands, His Voice.  Through praying, giving, and going, Southern Baptists have fulfilled this legacy for more than 160 years.

Continental Divide's 2011 Prayer Walk Initiative

Continental Divide Baptist Association is planning a great mission opportunity that would be suitable for churches from Colorado and nearby states. They are inviting Prayer Walking Teams to walk and pray in Crestone, CO, a place of mysticism and spirituality where many who follow new age philosophies and Eastern religions have come together. They believe that Crestone is a place of "convergence," where the physical and spiritual worlds meet. Associational Missionary, Phil Langley also believes this is a place of "Convergence," where Christianity meets many differing philosophies.

Pray For Your Pastor

Praying for Pastors

By Barb Schutt

It is my practice to pray for pastors every Sunday morning. I have prayed for pastors in the classis where I have lived and served for many years–I’ve tried to keep a list of churches and pastors in my prayer journal. Most of the time, I pray Scripture over and into them as they prepare to lead worship, preach, etc. Also, it is a blessing to be on prayer teams for several pastors, church planters, and others. This is a passion of mine, and is what got me into the HOPE team in the first place!

Uncommon Prayer: Seven Nights of Prayer for Boosting Your Church or Lauching a New One

The fiollowing ideas are from prayer leader, Phil Migiloratti.  They can be used for a church-wide prayer event to help boost your church's effectiveness for Christ or as a week-long new church launch.

If you anticipate that each night will have a different group of people (only a few returning), then you might want to set a focus and format that is the same every evening. For example:

Are You a Church Prayer Leader?

Are you a church prayer leader? If you answered "yes" then you know how hard it is to get new ideas for keeping your congregation motivated in prayer. Sometimes you might need a little encouraging yourself! Check out the Church Prayer Leader website http://prayerleader.com/ You can get great ideas on church prayer as well as encouragement for yourself and information on upcoming prayer conferences. Membership is free.

31 Days of Prayer for the Church

Pastor Kevin Carrothers of Rochester FBC in Rochester, IL composed the following "SO THAT" 31 days of prayers for the church.  Following the prayers for each day are the Scriptural foundations for each prayer.  Use them to strengthen your church.

Day 1  O Lord, You are the Sovereign of all things.
You are the Creator and Sustainer
I confess we have sinned and fallen short of Your glorious holiness.
I pray that You will forgive us our corporate and personal sins.

Day 2  SO THAT Your people may possess pure hearts;

Day 3  SO THAT Your people may have renewed minds;

Day 4  SO THAT Your people may hunger and thirst for righteousness;
